Practice Updates

3/3/20 8:30am

Wed March 4: Full club practice (except not USA). Skate

  • Special waxing demo during practice: “How to prepare your skis for summer storage” by Chris Li. With a title like that, how can you miss it?

  • Ski-up night is our annual event with CSU to provide more information to skiers considering CSU and their parents. This is for skiers eligible for CSU next year, that is, 14 years old by 12/31/2020. It is open to all age-eligible EMBK skiers and parents, no commitments – just an opportunity to learn more. Schedule:
    • 6:30 (prompt) EMBK skiers meet on snow and join CSU for the remainder of their practice
    • 6:35 Parents meet for short presentation by CSU coach(es) and Q&A. In addition to CSU coaches there will be parents who have had skiers transition from EMBK to CSU present to answer questions.
    • 7:10: skiers come inside for pizza (parents get pizza too)
    • 7:30 any remaining pizza gets eaten by EMBK skiers <13 years old
  • Skiers ages <13 in Scandinavia will have regular country practice.

Sat. March 7, 8:30-10:00 am.  Games day!

Get Ready for the 2018-2019 Ski Season!

EMBK is preparing for the 2018-2019 ski season and we hope to help your family get signed-up and geared-up for the winter.  Here are some key areas of interest:

Registration — Opens September 26th
Registration will open on September 26th. Please register early if you’re able—early fall registration helps us to better plan for the season.  Please watch our Google Group postings in late September (notification in your email) for the registration link.  Special note for fall roller skiing:  All skiers who plan to roller ski with EMBK must be registered before they will be allowed to roller ski.

Volunteer opportunities
We are an all-volunteer club. We rely on parents to volunteer each year to coach, organize specific activities and events, or help with club management and operations. Great opportunities exist this year to get involved with other skiing families. Currently we need help with:

  • Coordinating club participation at the BKL Festival (helping organize the food table, and distribution of race bibs/packets) March 2-3, 2019
  • Webmaster
  • Team/Country Parent liaison

Check out the volunteer page on the EMBK website ( and contact Cécile Tucker at if you can help!
Need New CoachesWe welcome and need new coaches. You don’t need to be an expert skier. We have a wide range of skier groups you can coach. Young skiers who have aged out of EMBK but not moved on to CSU are also encouraged to become assistant coaches with Team USA (7-8 year olds). We ask new coaches to attend the coaches’ clinic on Oct 27 (see schedule). Anyone thinking about coaching is encouraged to attend!  If you haven’t coached with us in the past, but would like to, please contact Jim Stock at
