Notes

Final updates and practice plans for Saturday practices will be posted by 6 pm Friday the evening before the practice.

Final updates for weekday practices will be posted by 1 pm the day of the practice.

For details see the practice plans

Practice schedules:

Saturday morning:  9-10:30.  Please arrive promptly, in low-snow conditions we must be off snow by 10:30 when their practice starts.

Weekday evenings: 6:30-7:30. We are the only team using the snow Wed evening.  We try to end sharply at 7:30 so please make sure your skier is ready to go on snow at 6:30 for a full hour.  No lollipops at weekday evening practices please.  Thursday evening practices are open to Norway only (at least at first), we share the snow with CSU and Dover-Sherborne.

General comments on ski preparation for regular practices

On classic technique days, please come with clean skis or apply kick wax at home.

Applying kick wax at home – “stick” wax days (snow hasn’t transformed).  This is pretty easy:

Gently roughen the kick zone with 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper (if you have combi skis it is especially important to be gentle)

Apply a thin layer of base binder if you have it and cork it in

Apply 2-3 moderately thin layers of the wax of the day, corking between each layer.  If we are skiing on natural snow, then just follow the temp. guidelines on the wax - the normal temperature chart applies.  If we are skiing on man-made snow, then the kick wax should be 2-3 layers of the Toko green base binder (strange but true) – if you don’t have this we will apply it at WST.

Note: Doing this at home will provide a better (more durable) wax job than we will be able to do at WST because of the usual pre-practice rush.

Applying kick wax at home – klister days (snow has transformed, i.e. melted at least once).

This is harder, if you know what you are doing go ahead otherwise we will help you before practice – arrive early to practice please since klister waxing takes a while.
